It was for a music festival called Hyperstate, and was held in Oslo and Copenhagen respectively. The festival existed between the years 1995 - 2000, and had a different visual style each year. The 3 keywords for the year (1998) were 1. Music 2. People and 3. Technology, and I used these themes to create the years visual look. Made whilst at Union Design. KM is short for Karrieremagasinet (Career Magazine) and the magazines aim is to be a source of support, advice and inspiration for young adults seeking a chosen career path. Myself and the in-house Designer at Kaleidoscope publishing tried to find a various dividing mechanisms within the categories, as we were using only two fonts throughout. We chose pale colours, and a subtle visual pattern for each section. E.g. "International Career" had a wave pattern, suggesting overseas, whilst "Education" used an expanded ripple pattern effect. Whilst the Whisky job fell through, the actual mock-up photo inspired myself and 2 colleges (Børge Bredenbekk and Nick Alexander) to make a full-blown animated feature based on it’s look. This time though with narration, story, sound, music and adrenalin. Working collectively, on all aspects of the production, we arrived at a short 8½ minute film entitled "The Whisky Chasers". After several sketches were proposed, the client went for the illustration shown below, and the final touches were completed by another illustrator.
